In recent years, Gilgit-Baltistan University, Karakoram International University Gilgit, and Wafa Foundation have teamed up with locals to create five artificial glaciers in Gilgit-Baltistan. Five artificial glaciers have been created in Gilgit-Baltistan to counter the effects of climate change and to ensure that locals have access to water in summer.

In addition, the procedure is part of the Glacier Lake Out Burst Flood Risk Reduction (GLOF-II) project, launched by the Ministry of Climate Change. The University of Gilgit-Baltistan, Karakoram International University Gilgit of Pakistan, Wafa Foundation, and the local people of Chandu village, Skardu, Nagar’s Marko village, Hussainabad village, and Khawardo village cooperated in this excellent environmental cause. This new development will fight climate change and store water.

With more than 7000 glaciers, Gilgit-Baltistan is called the land of glaciers. But where some glaciers are not formed naturally, an ancient technique of grafting is used. The exercise involves both technique and ritual. There must first be a suitable place – a cave or a deep hole in the mountain – located at an altitude of at least 4,000 to 5,000 meters above sea level, where the temperature stays below zero throughout the year. Snowfall and avalanches should be normal, without direct exposure to sunlight.

Gilgit-Baltistan experts decide to tackle the negative effects of climate change. Who directed a plan to create artificial glaciers in the area. Another use of these artificial glaciers is to collect and freeze large amounts of water during the winter months so that they can be used in dry weather.

In just a few weeks, a 50-foot artificial glacier could be created, capable of holding more than a quarter of a million gallons of water. According to local media reports, two glaciers have formed in Skardu and one each in Nagar, Hussainabad, and Khawardu. Four of these glaciers are over 4,000 meters high and one has passed over an altitude of 3,200 meters.

Asif Khan, another climate change expert and part of the Working Group of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change IPCC, also endorsed the process. As the temperature rises in the Hindu Kush-Himalayas (HKH), so will the melting of ice. In this scenario, transplanting artificial glaciers is considered a sustainable solution.

Commenting on the development, Mahesh Bukhari, a UNDP Pakistan official, said that the UN agency would monitor the glaciers every week to ensure that local communities had access to water during the summer. Artificial glaciers are just another step towards reducing the problems caused by climate change in Pakistan. The country has been hit hardest by climate change in recent years, and such projects could help reduce or eliminate damage in the future.

For the majority of the public, it would be interesting and surprising to discover that glaciers are male and female. However, even more, astonishing and unbelievable is the fact that glaciers can be created. When it comes to glaciers, no one in the world knows more about glaciers than the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.

The region of Gilgit-Baltistan is totally dependent on glaciers as the water of the glaciers is what gives rise to agriculture in Gilgit-Baltistan. At the same time, it has given rise to such exercises and endeavors which are extremely astonishing. This is not unusual, given the fact that the world’s largest and most glaciers outside the polar region are found in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. Farming in Gilgit-Baltistan comes into being because of these glaciers. This dependence has not only given rise to an enchanting chain of beliefs about glaciers but has also given rise to some amazing exercises and endeavors.

Another interesting fact is that there is no consensus on the sex of glaciers and people from different valleys make conflicting claims about the sex of glaciers in their area and glaciers in other areas. The people of Gilgit-Baltistan are convinced that if the glacier is a female substance then the productivity of the crop irrigated by its water will be less. They will be relatively weak. On the contrary, if the water from male glaciers then agriculture will be better, active, and full of energy. The downside of male glaciers is that women in the region tend to be more masculine and less attractive in terms of feminine beauty and delicacy. If the population of a village depends on the female glacier, then the women of that village will be more beautiful and the men will be relatively weak.

Although the art of raising glaciers is centuries old, it is no longer practiced. Artificial glaciers are raised under the supervision of elders according to local traditions. The first suitable place to create or raise glaciers is selected, from where water can easily reach the fields where water is required for irrigation.

People of the Gilgit-Baltistan region believe that they can grow glaciers. According to the glacier breeding method, large fragments are obtained from two different large natural glaciers (male and female) and brought to the designated place. Everyone participates and due to their duty. According to local traditions, the transfer of glaciers is carried out without interruption. It is also forbidden to communicate with each other during this time. These avalanches absorb more snow that is lying around. This process is started in winter so that when there is snowfall, more snow is added to it and its quantity is increased. Summer is a laborious task for those who care for a newly born glacier. A newly born glacier is covered with grass to digest from melting, and shade is provided by sticks to protect it from the sun. For this, it is covered with grass, and shade is provided by sticks to protect it from the sun.

In winter, weeds and thatch are removed from this newborn glacier to allow more snow to fall on it. Within five years, the artificially created glacier reaches its peak and turns into a natural glacier, meeting the water needs of a wide area of the valley.

This art of glacier making is present in the people of Gilgit-Baltistan all over the world but it is a pity that it is not taken into consideration and due to some superstitions this process has come to a halt. Participates in the formation process, its species is cut off, this is the biggest delusion due to which the process of glacier formation is becoming extinct.

Global warming is currently threatening the lives of glaciers, the rate of melting of glaciers is increasing and if this trend continues, the water crisis will increase alarmingly in the near future. This suggestion is not out of place. Gilgit-Baltistan’s glaciers craftsmen will be helped to overcome the water crisis by creating artificial glaciers, and the government will set up a glacier-making institute to patronize these craftsmen and promote this glacier-making industry. Indeed these are the great blessings of nature.

Planned water conservation projects encouraged to go ahead - Chinadaily.com.cn

While living in China, one can clearly observe the fact that people here love nature very much. Every color of nature, be it trees, flowers, rivers, or any form of biodiversity, is the way of thinking and behavior of Chinese people. Both will focus on nature conservation.

When it comes to water resources, after visiting various coastal areas and rivers of China, you must pay tribute to the Chinese government and the Chinese people for how they have preserved these beautiful natural colors. No encroachments will be seen, no garbage will be found, no contaminated water from any factory is discharged here and no human activity can be seen which is detrimental to these resources.

China to launch 150 major water conservation projects - Chinadaily.com.cn

One of the main reasons for this is the attitude of China’s top leadership, which convinces the people that we should not develop at the expense of nature but promote economic and social development that is in harmony with nature. China’s top leaders regularly review the biological environment of these water resources and orders are issued on the spot. Similarly, the relevant authorities are always vigilant to protect water resources, especially rivers, because they know that any Time can question them and no excuse for negligence is acceptable.

Continuing this tradition, Chinese President Xi Jinping recently visited the part of the mouth of the Yellow River in Dongying, a city in the eastern province of Shandong, where the Yellow River meets the sea. He also inspected the Yellow River environment at the pier located at the site, the Yellow River Delta Biological Surveillance Center, and a national-level natural conservation zone. They were also briefed on local environmental protection and high-quality development. The Yellow Delta National Natural Reservation Zone was established in October 1992. Thirty years ago the surrounding area was deserted. But now there has been a marked improvement in the environment. Considered China’s “mother river” and “cradle of Chinese civilization”, the Yellow River basin has seen dramatic improvements in its biological environment over the past few years as the Chinese government attaches great importance to protecting the country’s second-longest waterway.

Chinese President Xi Jinping also attaches great importance to environmental protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River, and this can be gauged from the fact that he has visited the Yellow River several times since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. He has visited nine nearby provinces. According to President Xi, the protection of the Yellow River is important for the great and sustainable development of the Chinese nation. It is also a sign that China considers environmental protection and the development of the high quality of the Yellow River basin an important national strategy. In Shandong, it falls into the Bohai Sea.

Yellow River Civilization: Fun Facts, Religion, Timeline, Map

The Yellow River, as an “ecological corridor”, addresses severe water shortages in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the Lowlands, and the plains of northern China, in improving the biological environment, tackling desertification, and providing water. It is worth mentioning that the 5464 km long waterway provides food to 12% of China’s population, irrigates about 15% of the cultivable land, and provides strong support to 14% of the national GDP. And provides water to more than 60 cities.

In view of this importance, the Chinese President, during his visit, pointed out the difficulties and problems in the protection of the Yellow River, such as the fragile biological environment, the critical situation of water resources conservation, and the need to improve development standards. According to him, the peace of the Yellow River is important for the stability of China. Although the river’s natural environment has not seen major threats over the years, President Xi has repeatedly called on the nation not to compromise.

Clean Water Space » Facts and figures about China – the Yellow River Basin

China has taken significant steps in recent years to develop the Yellow River, including flood control. By 2019, the accumulation of soil and sand in the Yellow River had decreased by about 30 billion tons. And the people living along the river have been helped by various projects. More than 400 wetland nature reserves and national parks have also been built in the Basin area. China has recently released a blueprint for the protection and development of the Yellow River by 2030 while accelerating legislation to address various challenges and promote environmental protection and high-quality development. This is practical proof that China adheres to the concept of harmony in nature and material development.

No Hunger - Home | Facebook

The United Nations has repeatedly called for sustainable food security and the improvement of the global agro-food system to eradicate hunger from the world. According to the United Nations, about 811 million people worldwide are suffering from hunger. While three billion people cannot afford healthy food. Conflicts in different parts of the world, migration, economic decline, climate change crisis, and now the epidemic of Code-19 have further increased food insecurity.

The countries with limited resources and the weaker sections are being hit the hardest. The global epidemic in 2020 has led to an alarming rise in hunger, a recent UN report warns of a “critical turn”. The World Food Program (WFP) warns that if the climate crisis is to be tackled, the World Food Program (WFP) estimates that 40-50 billion a year will be needed to eradicate hunger by 2030. If immediate steps are not taken, the number of starvation deaths will rise sharply.

Conflicts and global warming are wreaking havoc on human lives, crops, and livelihoods, further undermining food security. On the other hand, it is noteworthy that the world’s agricultural food system currently employs one billion people, more than any other sector. That is why experts are pushing for reforms and changes to make the agricultural food system more efficient, flexible, transparent, and more sustainable in the light of the principles of better production, better nutrition, better environment, and better living conditions.

In terms of individual food security, China’s policies to ensure food security have played a key role in raising the living standards of the Chinese people and contributing to global food security. Ensuring food security will be a priority in the country’s rural development in 2022.

At the recently concluded Annual Central Rural Work Conference, Chinese leaders reiterated that the country must protect its food supply at all costs, urging all parties concerned to play their part in protecting agriculture and stabilizing grain production.

There is no doubt that every country wants its people to never face malnutrition, it is one of the priorities of every country and government that people should have enough to eat but this guarantee requires practical measures. The example of China is always given because guaranteeing food security for a population of over 1.4 billion is by no means an easy task. Achieving this goal is no small feat.

It also shows that China’s commitment to food security has not changed in recent decades. Chinese President Xi Jinping made it clear at the annual Central Economic Work Conference in 2013 that ensuring food security would be a long-term task, so it was important for the country to focus on agriculture, especially grain production. Stick to a comprehensive and robust strategy.

In this regard, China has taken concrete steps that cover all aspects of agricultural development. For the protection of arable land, for example, the Chinese government has spared no effort to ensure that the country’s total agricultural area exceeds 1.8 billion acres (approximately 120 million hectares).

The country has also taken effective measures to increase grain production capacity, including improving regional alignment and integration of production factors and popularizing water-saving irrigation technology, among other things. There has been a significant increase in production. At present, China’s per capita food supply exceeds 474 kg, which is well above the international standard of 400 kg.

China’s consistently excellent grain production after years of hard work has also helped the Chinese people to choose abundant and healthy food, thus consuming grains as well as other food items such as meat and fish, vegetables, and fruits. Has also increased. In addition, China’s food security policies have yielded tangible benefits to the country’s vast rural population, especially farmers.

In order to reduce the burden on farmers and improve the cultivation of crops, various types of taxes have been abolished, including the agricultural tax which has had been in force for almost 2600 years. These measures, while guaranteeing food security, significantly boosted the country’s efforts to tackle poverty.

How Can Empowering Women & Girls Help End World Hunger?

China has also actively shared its achievements in food security at the national level with the rest of the world, which has been widely appreciated. More than 1,500 technologies have been provided in areas such as agricultural product processing, benefiting more than 1.5 million farming households. It is trying its best to eradicate hunger from the world.
